Enable Panorama Mode On A Non Jailbroken iPhone Including 4S Running iOS 5

The iOS community has been buzzing since yesterday, about the hidden panorama setting in iOS5 discovered by conradev. Today chpwn released a Cydia package that will do all the dirty work for you and enables this feature, but unfortunately you need a tethered or semitethered jailbreak for that. If you want the panorama feature but don’t want all the headaches of a tethered jailbreak ( or no jailbreak in case of the iPhone 4S ), here’s how to do it:

How to:
1. Download iBackupBot from the official website. ( Mac and Windows )
2. Plugin your iPhone and back it up via iTunes
3. Open iBackupBot and find the backup that you just made via iTunes. Select and load it.
4. Find Library/Preferences/com.apple.mobileslideshow.plist

5. Now you need to add a key to this .plist file. Open the file ( on mac, it just works *wink, wink* ) and near the bottom, add a key ( enableFirebreak ) and a string ( YES )

6. Save your modifications, and right from iBackupBot restore your iPhone with the modified iTunes backup

7. That’s it. Open your camera app, tap on options and there it is.

iOS 5.2 beta 2 can be Jailbroken using existing tools

According to MuscleNerd of the iPhone Dev-Team, the just-released iOS 5 beta 2 can be Jailbroken using the same redsn0w tools used to Jailbreak the first beta.
5.0b2 can be jailbroken w/redsn0w from 2 wks ago http://is.gd/6eek4Y with redsn0w 0.9.8 b1 (must point redsn0w at 5.0b1 IPSW)..devs ONLY please

Apple has just released the second beta version of iOS 5 (build 9A5248d)to developers of iOS Developer program.

iOS 5 beta 2 is available for iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPod Touch 4th generation, iPod Touch 3rd generation, iPad and iPad 2.

Apple unveiled iOS 5 at WWDC 2011 Keynote, which includes more than 200 features for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch users such as revamped Notification system with Notification Center, iMessage, PC Free, Wi-Fi Sync Newsstand, Reminders, deep Twitter integration and lots more. Apple has also improved the Camera app, Photo app, mobile Safari browser, Mail and Calendar app in iOS 5. With iOS 5, users also won’t need a computer.
According to the release notes, Apple has enabled the Wi-Fi sync feature in iOS beta 2 for Mac users:
In iOS 5.0 beta 2, wireless syncing is now available for the Mac. It requires iTunes 10.5 beta 2 and OS X 10.6.8 or Lion. You will see an option to enable wireless syncing when you connect your device to iTunes with the USB cable. It is recommended you perform your initial sync with a cable after restoring your device.
Wireless syncing is triggered automatically when the device is connected to power and on the same network as the paired computer. Or, you can manually trigger a sync from iTunes or from Settings -> General -> iTunes Sync (same network as paired computer required). Be sure your device is plugged into a power source when performing Wireless syncs.
iOS 5 Beta 1 that was released couple of weeks back had revealed quite a few hidden features.
Please note that iOS 5 beta is meant only for developers as devices updated to iOS 5 beta can only be restored to earlier versions of iOS if you’ve the SHSH blobs.

It looks like Grant Paul, aka Chpwn, is in possession of a jailbroken iPhone 5.

We can’t really say much more, other than the fact that he posted a screenshot of Cydia running on the iPhone 5 a few moments ago. More details of the exciting news inside…

This is awesome news, for this to 1). Come from a respected jailbreak dev, and 2). For it to come on the same day of the iPhone 5 release. It also means that there is hope for jailbreaking A5X devices on iOS 6 as well.
Also, I should mention, that if you’re running iOS 6 on an older A4 device, you can already jailbreak now.
Update: and here’s the Cydia home page.

Looks nice, no? Again, thanks to Chpwn.
