iOS 5 0 1 Untethered Jailbreak Confirmed Working On iPhone 4
Good news, jailbreakers! Pod2g today confirmed that his iOS 5 untethered jailbreak demoed few days ago on iPod touch 4G is working on iPhone 4 running iOS 5.0.1. The news comes from pod2g’s Twitter timeline who invites users to update to iOS 5.0.1 in case they want to.
Got an untethered iPhone 4 running iOS 5.0.1. Feel free to update.Pod2g has previously warned users from upgrading to iOS 5.0.1 and give him time so he can use the discovered security flaw found in iOS 5.
Since his jailbreak is currently working on iPhone 4 iOS 5.0.1, you can feel free to upgrade.
Next step now is to test the untethered jailbreak on the A5 devices as the iPhone 4S and iPad 2. If the jailbreak is a new exploit, then it will most probably work on the devices. If it’s a big that changes tethered to untethered based on limera1n’s exploit, then it won’t work.

SemiTether Jailbreak Confirmed As Working On iOS 5 0 1
Despite the fact that Apple only seeded iOS 5.0.1 to developers a matter of hours ago, the trusty Redsn0w jailbreak tool allows those testing the updated firmware to jailbreak their devices, albeit tethered.
Just last week, a Cydia package was released on BigBoss repository providing something of a "halfway house" solution between the tethered and untethered jailbreak. Known as SemiTether, it can be located and installed straight from the BigBoss repo. Once installed, you no longer have to connect your device to a computer to boot tethered, the tweak boots it. Unfortunately, though, despite a decent update and improvements, it doesn’t quite encompass the joy of untethered. After the makeshift boot of SemiTether, many key functions of the device cease to work, and you have to connect to a PC or Mac in order to restore some normality. Nonetheless, it is a step up from tethered, which, once switched off or rebooted, is essentially useless unless a computer (with Redsn0w or Sn0wbreeze installed) in close proximity.
After testing it out ourselves, we are pleased to confirm that the patch is working on the updated (currently developer only) release of iOS 5.0.1.

Waiting for an untethered jailbreak can seem quite daunting, but it is important to remember that the developers are under no obligation, and do work hard. So no matter how eager we are, we’re going to have to wait for a little while, and hope – as the saying goes – that good things will come to us.
